Cedar Lake – Today, Randy Niemeyer, Lake County Councilman and Republican Congressional candidate for Indiana’s First District expressed solidarity with the United Steel Workers Union in their attempt to lobby Congress to block Nippon Steel’s acquisition of U.S. Steel:

U.S. Steel’s plant in Gary is vital to our local economy, providing good-paying jobs for hardworking families in the region. I firmly stand with the hardworking men and women of the United Steelworkers Union as they advocate for the interests of our local steel industry. In Congress, I’ll stand up for labor and be a strong advocate for fair trade policies that put American workers first,” stated Niemeyer.
